Sworn statements about your family status, for embassies, schools, banks and authorities. We draft them in Arabic and English and our in-house notary public attests them.

1 / 5

Who is the document for?

We notarise documents for individuals and for companies. The requirements differ, so this is the first thing we need to know.

What needs notarising?

If it is not on this list, choose the closest one and tell us in the last step.

How would you like it done?

Not every document can be notarised remotely. We will tell you plainly if yours cannot.

When do you need it?

An honest answer here helps. We will tell you if a deadline is not achievable rather than after you have booked.

Where should we send the answer?

You will get the instrument you need, what to bring, and the government fee. No charge for that.

No charge for the conversation. Please do not send identity documents here.

A Dubai notary can take and attest sworn affidavits, and that is how most family status statements are made: marital status, a parent’s acknowledgement of a child, or how separated parents share custody. For non-Muslim residents we draft the affidavit, check it against what the receiving body asked for, and complete the notarisation. Family matters of Muslims, such as custody, lineage and divorce, are decided by the court, not by a notary, and we tell you so at the start.

In person, online or at your home

In person at our Business Bay office

Meet our in-house notary public at Business Hub, Marasi Drive. Bring your originals and the document is signed and sealed in one visit.

Online notary appointment

Meet the notary by secure video call, with your identity confirmed through UAE PASS. The document is issued electronically.

Home or office visit

We come to your home, office or board meeting anywhere in Dubai. The government attendance fee is AED 1,000 per visit, not per signature.

How it works

  1. Tell us who is asking, and for what. Send the receiving body’s request or template if you have one.
  2. We confirm a notary can do it. For Muslim family matters we tell you to go to the court instead.
  3. We draft the affidavit in Arabic and English. Every name taken from a passport.
  4. You read it and swear it. At our Business Bay office, online through UAE PASS, or at your home.
  5. You receive the attested affidavit. Registered with Dubai Courts, with a verification barcode.

What the law says about custody

Muslim families. Federal Decree-Law No. 41 of 2024 on Personal Status, in force from 15 April 2025, ends custody at 18. From 15, a child can choose which parent to live with, unless the child’s interest requires otherwise. These matters go to the court.

Non-Muslim families. Federal Decree-Law No. 41 of 2022 on Civil Personal Status applies to non-Muslims in the UAE, including Dubai, unless they choose their home country’s law. After divorce, custody is joint and equal between both parents.

An affidavit does not replace a court order. It records what you state under oath. Where a court has ruled, the order decides, and a divorce must be registered with the court to be recognised.

Family affidavit cost

Government fees, from Cabinet Resolution No. 19 of 2024. Our own fee for drafting and translation is quoted in writing before work starts.

Family affidavit questions

Can a notary make a custody declaration for a Muslim family?

No. Under Dubai Law No. 4 of 2013, a notary cannot attest documents on the family affairs of Muslims. Custody, lineage and divorce for Muslims are handled by the court.

What law covers custody for non-Muslims in Dubai?

Federal Decree-Law No. 41 of 2022 on Civil Personal Status, unless the parties choose their home country’s law. After divorce, custody is joint and equal.

At what age does custody end?

Under the Personal Status Law, Federal Decree-Law No. 41 of 2024, custody ends at 18, and at 15 a child can choose which parent to live with.

Can I swear a family affidavit online?

Often yes, with your identity confirmed through UAE PASS. Send the request first and we confirm.

Does an affidavit prove my marriage or divorce?

It records what you state under oath. The marriage or divorce certificate is the proof; a divorce must be registered with the court.
