Types of power of attorney we prepare
General power of attorney
Broad authority over a class of matters. Under the Civil Transactions Law, a general power written in general terms covers acts of management only, so it often does less than people expect.

We come to your home, office or board meeting anywhere in Dubai. The government attendance fee is AED 1,000 per visit, not per signature.
How it works
- Tell us the task. What your agent must be able to do, and for how long.
- We confirm the type and the cost. In writing, before we start.
- We draft it in Arabic and English. With the agent’s name taken from their passport.
- You read it and sign. Before our in-house notary public, online through UAE PASS, or at your home. The person giving the authority must attend; the agent normally does not.
- You receive the notarised document. Registered with Dubai Courts, with a verification barcode.
Three mistakes that get a power of attorney refused
Scope too narrow. An agent allowed to “sell the property” may be turned away if the deal also needs them to receive the money and sign the transfer. Name every act.
Scope too broad. A casual general power can hand over more than you meant, for as long as it stands. Give only what the task needs.
Name spelt differently. Use the agent’s name exactly as in their passport. A mismatch is a refusal at the counter.
Power of attorney cost
Government fees, from Cabinet Resolution No. 19 of 2024 and Dubai Courts Decision No. 312 of 2025. Our own fee for drafting, translation and attendance is quoted in writing before work starts.

Power of attorney questions
Which type do I need?
Tell us the task rather than the document name. A special power of attorney limited to the task is usually safer than a general one.
How long is a power of attorney valid?
The law sets no fixed period. It lasts for the term written in it, or until the task is done or it is revoked. Some receiving bodies, such as the Land Department, apply their own acceptance rules, so tell us where it will be used.
Does the agent have to attend?
Usually not. The person giving the authority attends and is identified. We need a passport copy of the agent.
Can it be done online?
Yes, in most cases. You meet the notary by video call and confirm your identity with UAE PASS. Send us the document first and we confirm it qualifies.
Can I cancel it later?
Yes. Revoking a power of attorney is its own notarial act, and the agent should be told. See our POA cancellation notice page.
What does it cost?
AED 100 per party for the instrument plus AED 100 per party for electronic registration, both government fees. Our fee is quoted in writing. The full schedule is on the fees page.
