What a cookie is

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to store, so that something can be remembered between one page and the next. Related technologies such as local storage do the same job in a different way. This page uses “cookie” to cover both.

Cookies are often described as a privacy problem. That is really a description of tracking cookies, which follow you between websites to build a profile. This site sets none of those.

What this site sets

WordPress session cookies

Set only when someone signs in to administer the site. If you are a visitor rather than an administrator here, these are never set for you.

Comment cookies

If commenting is enabled and you leave a comment, WordPress may offer to remember your name and email so you do not retype them. Set only if you comment.

Security cookies

Set by the platform to protect the site’s administration area from misuse. Not set for ordinary visitors.

Language cookie

Set as pll_language so the site remembers whether you are reading English or Arabic and does not return you to the other language on every page. Necessary for a bilingual site to work, and it holds nothing about you beyond the language you chose.

That is the whole list. There is no analytics cookie, no advertising cookie, and no cookie that follows you to another website.

Why there is no cookie banner

A consent banner exists to obtain permission for cookies that need permission. Cookies that are strictly necessary for a website to function do not require consent, and those are the only ones this site sets.

If that changes, this page changes with it, and a consent mechanism will appear before any non essential cookie is set. We would rather explain the position on a page like this one than train visitors to dismiss a banner without reading it.

If you contact us

Contacting the practice by phone, WhatsApp or email is not a cookie matter. What happens to the information you send is covered in the privacy policy.

WhatsApp links on this site are ordinary links. Following one opens WhatsApp, which is operated by Meta under its own terms and privacy policy. Nothing is loaded from WhatsApp into this page, and nothing is sent to it unless you follow the link.

Controlling cookies yourself

Every major browser lets you see the cookies a site has set, delete them, and block them in future. The controls are usually under Settings, then Privacy. Blocking cookies on this site will not stop you reading it, because nothing here depends on them for a visitor.

The map on the contact page

The contact page carries a map, and it is the one exception here, which is why it is handled the way it is. The map does not load when the page opens. In its place is a button reading “Load the map”, and nothing is requested from Google until you press it.

If you do press it, the map loads from Google and sets its own cookies under Google’s terms. That is your choice, and it stays confined to that page and that click.

Changes to this page

This page describes what the site does today. Both of the changes previously anticipated here have happened and are described above: the site is now published in Arabic as well as English, which is why the language cookie exists, and the contact page carries a consent gated map. If anything is added that sets a non essential cookie, this page will change before it does, and a consent mechanism will appear first.
