Under Article 898 of the Civil Transactions Law, Federal Decree-Law No. 25 of 2025, you can revoke or limit your agent’s authority at any time, unless the power of attorney involves the right of someone else or was made in the agent’s interest. Until the agent and the people dealing with them know, a contract they sign may still bind you (Article 144). That is why revocation should be followed by a notice.

For property powers of attorney, the Land Department runs its own free cancellation service. We tell you when you need it.

How it works
- Send the power of attorney. Or its number and date.
- We confirm it can be revoked. And whether a Land Department step is needed.
- We draft the revocation and the notice. In Arabic and English.
- You sign. At our Business Bay office, online through UAE PASS, or at your home.
- The notice is served on the agent. You keep the notarised revocation and the proof of service.
Do not skip the notice
Tell the agent. An agent who does not know may keep acting, and a contract they sign may bind you.
Tell the people they deal with. Banks, developers and offices that hold a copy of the power of attorney.
Check sub-agents. Revoking the main power of attorney also revokes powers delegated from it.
POA cancellation cost
The government fee for revoking a power of attorney and serving a notice is quoted at the current Dubai Courts rate when you ask. The Land Department’s own POA cancellation service is published as free. Our own fee is quoted in writing.

POA cancellation questions
Can I cancel a power of attorney at any time?
Yes, under Article 898, unless it involves another person’s right or was made in the agent’s interest. Then that person must agree.
Do I have to tell the agent?
The law does not set a method, but you should. Until the agent and those dealing with them know, a contract they sign may still bind you.
Can I cancel it online?
Yes, in most cases, with your identity confirmed through UAE PASS.
Is a newspaper notice required?
We have found no UAE rule requiring one. We serve the notice on the agent directly.
Do I owe the agent anything?
Under Article 899, you may owe compensation if you revoke at an unsuitable time or without an acceptable reason.
